A Child Called It A child called it is about one child’s courage to survive and this book is a biography written by the same boy who was beaten in his own house and not even treated like a human being or a member of his own family this book was about 189 pages. The main character of this story is a boy named David Pelzer and he is a sweet, young and caring boy and his mother started to beat him and torture him in many ways for no reason at all. His mother is an alcoholic who fought with his dad on a regular basis especially when she’s drunk. HIs father always tried to help David as much as he could but his wife would always tell him to leave “the boy” alone and she wouldn’t let him help him out and after a while he was the only person that gave David hope. There were his brothers who acknowledged his presence at first when the beatings first started and after a while they started to obey everything their mother said so they ignored him and sometimes even helped their mom in beating him. The plot of this book is about how David would put up with his mother endlessly torturing and beating him and how he was able to get out of it through the school. I think that the themes that the author is trying to portray in this book is Fear and Courage.…

“A Child Called ‘It’”, by Dave Pelzer, is a novel about the author’s fight through a disturbing and abused childhood. The novel starts with Dave telling us about the last day at his Mother’s house before he was rescued by law enforcement. At first, I could not understand why he started the novel with the end of his story, but after finishing the novel, it was clear to me that it was easier to read it knowing there actually was a light at the end of the tunnel. Personal Response I thought Child Called It was a hard book to read. The book was not hard with the wording, the hard part of the book was the storyline. I believe no child should have to go through the life David had. The sad thing is things like that still happen. When David was dealing with his mother, and is father could see is pain. He did not do anything to help him. Plot Child Called It starts with David getting away. He is in the office and the nurse and principal talked to him. He…
