My second blog is about my first impression about a novel I’m reading in class. The name is “The Spare Room”, written by Kathryn Lomer who taught the EAL subject in Hobart. The story is taking place a few years ago, probably a decade ago where people used to write letters overseas instead of using email or Facebook. Akira, a university student from Japan comes to Hobart to learn English as his father insisted. He experiences how Australian culture is different from his, and tries new things which he couldn’t even think of, such as cooking and working in restaurants. I think he was quite a poor guy when he was in Japan because he couldn’t decide what he wanted to do and had to face the fact that his best friend killed himself due to similar…
branches were resting on the roof of the first floor. This made us nervous, because one big rainstorm, we felt it could fall on our house. Previous owners had closed off what could of been the porch and made an extra room (this extra room was their sun-room, aka our office). Front of the house after: Living Room before: The living room is the first room you walk into, decent size space, but no wall…
At this moment and time, I live with my sister, my mom, and my stepdad. We live in a mediocre, gray house that is very old. When you first walk in, you will see the living room with red carpet, which I do not like. From the living room, you will end up in the dining room if you go straight. Our dining room has tan carpet, a brown table, and a sliding door that we consider our back door. Taking a right from the back door, you will go into the kitchen where the mud room and basement also are. In…
Ron chose to stay in the second floor, in the same bedroom he and Harry had been designated when they first stayed at the house. Neville took Hermione and Ginny’s old room on the first floor, whereas Hermione and Luna would share the third floor – Hermione where Mr. and Mrs. Weasley had stayed, and Luna in Fred and George’s, leaving the middle one as a…
Emma pulled up to the small ranch that she had grown up in. Although she hadn't visited in years, it was exactly as she had remembered. The powder blue house with white shutters and a white door. The lush bushes circled the house. But now there was a for sale sign on the lawn, one that would be taken down tomorrow after the papers were signed. Emma got out of her car and and turned the key in the door for the first time in seven years. She creaked the door open. The house was dull and dark.…
"Dude we are so lucky that the teacher didn't do attendance yet," Hussein whispered. "Yea we are lucky," I whispered back. "You two stop talking," the teacher said. "Aright class I will being assigning class seats, so get up when your name is called and move to your new desk," she announced. Ms. Pearson was a middle age woman who I didn't bother asking about her age, because it was quote on quote "rude." She was shorter than most teaches and had a pale complexion and long blond hair. Her room…

Noke and Lis lived in a beautiful home with three spacious bedrooms, a large bathroom with a tub and shower, Ellen and I had never seen a bathtub before and looked forward to taking leisurely, long soaks covered in bubbles, a sizable living room with a wood burning fireplace, a bright kitchen with a breakfast nook and a mudroom. Oma beamed with motherly pride that her son owned such a fantastic home. Noke and Lis occupied the master bedroom with an additional en-suite bathroom, Uncle Kité…
When I pushed open the bathroom door I couldn't move. There lying on the floor was my son's blue blanket and his pajamas, but no baby. AH, i screamed. The size was perfect for separating the classroom out into different learning areas. This is a good setup because it helps the child to focus on only the activity/station they are in at that moment. Like most kindergarten classrooms it had one entrance/exit and included a classroom bathroom, which was located in the back. This cut down on distractions since the students did not have to walk in front of the board or through learning centers to reach the bathroom. Also the door area was kept clear…
