    My second blog is about my first impression about a novel I’m reading in class. The name is “The Spare Room”, written by Kathryn Lomer who taught the EAL subject in Hobart. The story is taking place a few years ago, probably a decade ago where people used to write letters overseas instead of using email or Facebook. Akira, a university student from Japan comes to Hobart to learn English as his father insisted. He experiences how Australian culture is different from his, and tries new things which he couldn’t even think of, such as cooking and working in restaurants.
