    Persuasive Speech

After my persuasive speech about why people should study Chinese, I felt relieved and confident. I delivered this speech within the time limits, spoke two languages in a confident manner, and engaged my audience. While I walked out feeling good about my speech, I could also point out everything that went wrong. My video link did not play where I wanted, but it did not fluster me. Then, I forgot to provide more of a background for my sources and repeat the questions when asked, but acknowledging mistakes is the first step to rectifying them. Overall, my persuasive speech went well and could have benefited from some alterations, but I am proud for finishing my last speech on a positive note. When addressing an audience, clearly articulating…

Persuasive writing can be difficult for students based off a student’s personality. If a student is a people pleaser, non-confrontational, or timid they may have a hard time writing an essay that’s sole purpose is to change someone else’s mind. A student who is a people please will always want to do what the other person wants. A persuasive essay is asking the student to do the exact opposite of what they wish. I am not saying it is always good for a student to be a people pleaser but I am…

The persuasive essay usually has a five paragraph essay format, though the number of the paragraphs can be increased if necessary. The introduction should seize the…

Persuasive techniques are used all the time in advertisements, we just don’t seem to notice them. These two ads have very similar techniques used, for example did you notice the exaggeration in these two ads? probably not because we don’t pay much attention to it, for example in the SOLO ad would the man really chase down a barrel of water, jumping to stop it go off a cliff, and what about the Mount Franklin ad where she just walks across the road into a forest in her spectacular costume just to…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I…

For my final genre, I decided to do another persuasive genre. Persuasive genres are really good when trying to capture an audience and make them really think about the topics that you bring to the table. However, for this persuasive genre I took a different approach and created A Top Six Reasons Why list. This list is targeted towards younger adults at least of voting age and older. I created this genre to help the audience be informed about all of the advantages that would come out of lowering…

Persuasive or Argumentative Did you know that since 2008 the federal government spent almost $700 billion dollars of taxpayer money to bail out companies (“Bailout Tracker,” 2016)? The government has used this money to give to companies that are failing or were about to go bankrupt. This is a small group of people deciding what businesses get the money and stay in business and which ones don’t. The money comes from us, the taxpayers, and it shouldn’t be used to support failing companies.…

For many years, the world has frowned upon the union of alternatively persuasive couples. When dealing with an issue such as this it is important to view both sides of a story. In the 21st Century one would conclude that matters such as these would be irrelevant, especially in America. The United States is a country that prides itself on many freedoms. Unfortunately many believe that these freedoms should not be extended to those who practice homosexuality. When committed to a spouse by…

This writer’s statement will allow me to evaluate and express my creative decisions for how I compiled both my narrative and my persuasive oral presentation. My narrative, which I have not named, as I could not think of a name suitable for the piece of writing. It was based around the theme of together but alone. Immediately, both my own and my sister’s past experiences at school came to mind. This allowed me to write a fictional piece, that was based on true stories. Compared to my…
