It is amazing how there are world problems that can be solved in different ways. The scientific question for this investigation was, “Does the type of method or product affect how much water contamination was disinfected?” The hypothesis was, “If the type of method or product affects how much water contamination is disinfected, then the purification tablets will disinfect the water better.” The method or product was the independent variable while how well the contamination was disinfected was the dependant variable. The control variables were the amount of water (0.24 liters), amount of lemon juice (¼ teaspoon), and the original ph level of the water, which was 7.4. With the lemon juice added to the water, the ph level was 4.12. The method of boiling water was the control group and the purification tablets, bleach, filter, and distilment method were the experimental groups. Basically, the procedures of the investigation were to fill a cup with correct amount of water and lemon juice, use a product or do a method to the lemon water, then measure the ph level of the water afterwards. The experiment, overall, was not very difficult. The investigation had some results that were unexpected. For the control group, boiling water, the average was 4.39. The data for those trials varied between the ph of 4.6 and 4.23. Purification tablets, did not however, vary as much as the control group. The average for those three trials was 4.23, with results of 4.23, 4.27, and 4.34. These tablets…
