As I continue my passion of interviewing those involved in the entertainment industry, sometimes I happen upon people in most unusual ways. I happened to put in a request to interview an actor (Karl E. Landler--his interview will happen later), and this charming gentleman included Marem Hassler as part of that request. I was quite unfamiliar with her and her fantastic work, but as I have continued to interact with her and discover her impressive list of credits, she happily agreed to answer some…
this situation. Although this African American woman and all, in general, are being beaten down, in the long run, they will be the strongest while the bigots will rot in hell. My ideas and beliefs and everything I was thinking just flamed out onto paper. I did not write a new entry on my own time but I definitely added to…
on what tense I write in, and focus on revising my paper to catch silly spelling or grammar mistakes. This class also helped me in my other classes. In most of my other classes we had writing projects where I could apply the skills I learned in College Writing l. Also, this semester being able to have individual conference times helped me to feel confident in my work. It helped me to see mistakes that I did not see when I was reading my own papers. I believe that I will take all of what I…
Over the last few weeks in Ms. Sears Hawkeye composition class we have been working on a five page summary response paper. Needless to say this is a big project, and the fact that it will determine my colege status has really been weighing on my mind. I’ve always enjoyed emglish, although it has never been my strong suit. And now this class will decide my fate. Not to get dramatic or anything, I’m just really stressed out. And on top of this big project that makes me feel like im going to have…
become a world-famous writer. However, as a child, Blume loved to make up stories. She had many character ideas and stories in her head but never told anybody. When Judy’s children went to preschool, she decided it was time to get her stories onto paper. Blume began her writing career. During her long period of writing Blume has developed some systems and tips for aspiring…
Rhetorical Analysis and Argument Papers for the Portfolio Project. Here is how I revised them: I started the Portfolio off by revising the Rhetorical Analysis Paper on Frederick Douglass. I fixed the initial opening to this essay by deleting the last sentence of the first paragraph, and adding the focus of the essay in paragraph two. In paragraph two, I also tried to explain a sentence more by actually adding what experience Douglass…
I took my Smart Measure, 2-1 Success Plan Activity assessment on January 4 and was shocked by my results. I scored 100s and high 90s in almost everything (Individual Attributes, Learning Styles, Technical Competency, Technical Knowledge, Math and Typing Speed) were among the higher percentage predominately in the Blue coded (100%). What shocked me was my Reading, Writing and Recall scores which fell way below my personal expectations at 79% (88% in Apprehension, 80% in Grammar, Usage and Syntax…
However, I am now able to much more than I was able to do in the past, this includes identifying my strengths and weaknesses. For instance, I have found that I am better at writing descriptive papers than argumentative papers. This college course has definitely helped me improve my overall writing. My first paper in English Composition opened my eyes to how inadequately I had written before. Before I took this course, I had no idea what a thesis statement was or that it even existed. When I…
REFLECTION ON TESL I found TESL a very captivating, interesting and practical subject. I had left the university after the completion of my English Honors and I rejoined the university from the second semester of the Masters Linguistics. Therefore, it was the first time I studied TESL as my course. I had reviews from my classmates about the subject and the course instructor before I found my way back to the university. They told me that like we were used to analyse novels and various others…
This past semester I took a seminar called, "Define American: An Exploration of Immigration" and it was the first history class that really meant something to me. We explored many origins of immigration, African, Central American, Asian , European. We read a lot of personal narratives from immigrants, and also discussed current events surrounding sports, art, and politics. I found myself stuck in the middle when it came to policies and rights one should have in this country. I also was able to…
