    crushing me in a bear hug. It strangled me, taking my breath and courage with it. I was shaking like a leaf, almost about to be blown far, far away. My dad’s voice brought me back to the real world, making me feel even worse. Sitting up in the grand stands was a nightmare. Seeing the best athletes from around the state made me feel scared and frightened. Of failure. In that instant, I realized that my fear was going to chase me onto the track and all the way to the end. Starting the 100 metre heat was one of the scariest things I may have ever done in my life. In what seemed like a second, I had crouched down, hear the set sound and gone racing down the track. I knew that I couldn’t look around or I would slow down, so I looked straight forward. I didn’t look back and when I hear my dad shouting my name, I pushed myself even further. And I won. I won.
