Militarism
Social and political emphasis on the military. Military has influence in political decisions and a lot of money is spent on it.
Alliances
An agreement between two or more countries to defend each other militarily in case of war.
Nationalism
Having pride in your country and being ready to defend it.
Imperialism
A country trying to build up an empire.
Assassination
In World War I, the assasination of the Archduke of Austria-Hungary, Franz Ferdinand by Gravilo Princip, member of the Black Hand, during a visit to Bosnia.
Stalemate
Situation in which no advancement is possible; no further action is possible; a deadlock.
Trench Warfare
Type of warfare dominant in WWI which made soldiers fight in trenches. There were three kind of trenches: Front, Support, Reserve, and Communication. Life conditions in the trenches was horrible, and soldiers sufferred of diseases for the agglomeration, rats, and dirty water that flooded the trenches.
