PCBU

Person Conducting Business or Undertaking



Has a duty of care to ensure safety of the officers, workers, volunteers and visitors.



Responsible for providing and maintaining a work environment without risks to health and safety.

Officer

1. Ensures whs equipment is provided



2. Ensures training occurs.



3. Maintains register of training.



4. Eqipment is inspected and maintained.

Worker (Employee)

1. Take reasonable care for own health and safety.



2. Take care that acts or omissions don't adversely affect the health and safety of others.



3. Comply as far as able, with any reasonable instructions that is given in regards to WHS.



4. Co-operate with any reasonable policy or procedure relating to WHS.



Eg. PPE, 'no lift no injury', participate in training, do not come to work intoxicated, report potential risks, report and document accidents/ near misses, attend injury related medical appointments.

Return to Work Act 2914

Work cover scheme - rehab and compensation scheme whic protects employers and employees.


Aim: to assist injured workers to return to work.

Hazard

Something with the potential to harm health safety and welfare of people at work.



Classification:



A. Potential to cause death/ serious disabling injury/ serious property damage.



B. Potential to cause serious disabling injury / illness requiring time off work / property damage.



C. Potential to cause injury, first aid/medical treatment needed - no time off work/ minor property damage.

Risk

Likelihood of a hazard causing injury/ illness/ disease drom the way things are used or occur in the workplace, and the resulting injury severity, sickness or disease
