Live Performance Introduction |
This is a rough guide for the Introduction of your essay for a live performance. A good introduction sets a greater level of expectation from the examiner which makes the more willing to read your work. |

Style, genre, the conventions and two line summaries. |

Style. |
The style is how the production is produced. For example Sleuth is a melodrama. The four basic styles are: Tragedy; Comedy; Melodrama and Drama |

Genre. |
This is a more specific description of the play. For example Shaw Shank Redemption was a Prison Drama/Thriller. |

Conventions of genre. |
Most genres have elements that the audience expects as they have been used many times in previous pieces of theatre from their genre/sub genre. For examples the one convention of a horror are: Either dark or isolated setting. |

The final part. The summary. |
The summary is a 2-3 line brief description of the piece of theatre. This is best done by highlighting the key moments, briefly, that you picked to use as your moments. |
