Alaea Sea Salt
Hawaiian Salt. A natural mineral (volcanic baked red clay) that gives alaea salt its natural pink color. Historically, it was used to preserve food thats why a lot of Hawaiian food has Hawaiian salt.

prepared from local red peppers, slat, and water
Lomi lomi Salmon
lomi means to massage that is how the dish is prepared. Made of diced tomatoes, onions, and salmon. On the saltier side as a result of the salted salmon's introduction by whalers in the early 19th century.
Ahi
Yellofin Tuna
Butterfish and Stew Gravy.
Salted Black Cod boiled and smothered in Hawaiian Stew. Served grilled, plain, or in hot water with green onions.
Beef Stew
Slow cooked tomato base makes beef extra tender.
Chicken Long Rice
Chinese vermicelli noodles, chicken broth, ginger, garlic, and green onions. Staple since the mid 1800s.
Haupia
Traditionally made from pia (arrowroot) now made with coconut milk, cornstarch, and sugar. Cross between pudding and jello.
Kalua Pig
Literally means pig cooked in underground oven. Smoked shredded pig.
Na'au Pua'a
Chitterlings (pig intestines) and luau leaves in a soupy base. It's on the saltier side.
Pipikaula
Favorite snack among paniolos during long cattle drives in the 19th century. A salted, dried beef strip. Seasoned, dried, then grilled.
Poi
Mashed up taro root. It was the main startch of Hawaiians. Served at room temperature, or cold. Meant to be eaten sour. Some add sugar because naturally not sweet.
Squid Luau
Steamed luau leaves, coconut milk, and squid.
Tripe Stew
Inner lining of cow's stomach in tomato soup base with small pieces of carrots.
