War helps music. Lps appear, (NAB) forms Broadcast Music Inc (BMI) in reaction to increasing revenue demands from ASCAP. American gospel becomes ASCAP go to. Solo acts start

1950s

Rapid growth of television kills radio. Disc jockeys who play records become new hit makers. BMI suceeds in capturing rep for the majority of copyrights in the rock and country fields. Sesac expands to country

1960s

Need publishers for new songs on radio. Print business improves. Harry Fox Agency becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of the NMPA.

1970

Radio broadcast shorter music below the top 40. Forcing companies to promote air time. Many publishers quit print business and passes it off to lowers. The business does better due to education. Publishers income fro ASCAP and BMI continue to grow.
