They are people who die for their faith

St.Ignatius of Antioch
-Feast day Oct.17
-Second Bishop of Antioch Syria
- was sentenced to death for his refusal of renouncing his christian faith
-Traveled to many places during his lifetime
-Wrote seven letters during his lifetime and church still treasures them today.
-First one who used the term "catholic"
-Was not afraid of death because he knew he was defeated by the master.

-Converted to Christianity until years after studying various pagan philosophies.
-Became first Christian philosopher
-Is known as an apologist

Who were the Apostates?
Apostates were people who had renounced their faith so as not to be persecuted, and now wanted to repent and return to the church.
Before being allowed back in the church they had to be fully repent
This started what we know today as reconciliation
Also by this time there were Apologists and who were they?
They were people who defended the faith
