Because the equation for specific heat included P∆V, a constant volume would not change the heat at all because a zero would be inserted into the value (p*0) and if the constant pressure is used (even if it's not changing), it will still be a higher number (#*∆V)
What requires more heat: increasing the temperature of 1 kg of granite by 2 K or increasing the temperature of 1 kg of water by 1 K? Why?

Why does the temperature of an air parcel decrease during an ascent forced by a mountain?
As the parcel moves up in elevation, surrounding air pressure decreases allowing the parcel to expand to fill the space. In order to expand, some of the initial energy defining temperature is used, therefore, the temperature decreases.

Radiation is rays from either the sun or the earth that emit energy. It comes in many different frequencies based on what kind of radiation it is.

The wavelength of maximum radiation is equal to the Wien's constant divided by the temperature.
What do we call short and long wave radiation?
Shortwave radiation is the radiant energy by the sun.

Longwave radiation is the infrared energy from the earth's surface
What is the relationship between the wave lengths of visible, ultraviolet (UV), and infrared (IR) radiation?

A black body is any substance that is a perfect absorber or reflector of radiation. If a substance has 0% albedo, then it is a perfect and if it's albedo is 100%, it's a perfect reflector.

Albedo is the reflectivity of a surface. Albedo for earth is generally 30%.
Why does the temperature typically drop more on a clear night than a cloudy night?
On a cloudy night, more water vapor is present. Water vapor is a greenhouse gas which keeps long wave radiation from leaving Earth's atmosphere.
Is the annual temperature range larger or smaller in Richmond, VA than in San Francisco, CA.?
Larger

Because San Francisco is on the coast by the water so the temperature change is always slightly less extreme than a city that is more inland because of humidity.

Transpiration is the evaporation of water from plants.

Radiation fog is used when radiation cooling of the ground is mixed with a layer of warm air until a fog is formed. Advection fog is when warm, moist air moves over cool (ocean air moving over land air) and causes the air to reach its dew point. Yes, a fog can be both radiation and advection fog, there is a type of fog called radiation-advection fog (caused by radiation cooling)
