Normal person vs SVT

In AVNRT there are 2 nodal pathways. People can have 2 and be fine however some people have a slow and a fast conducting pathway. Slow fast AVNRT is most common.

In AVNRT if a PAC arrives at the AV node and the fast pathway is refractory the impulse will travel down the slow pathway towards the ventricles activating the bundle of his anterogradely then back up the fast pathway toward the atrium retrogradely because it is no longer refractory. This creates a circus like re entry movement that goes around and around. Short cycle length is responsive for rapid heart rate
