-No symptoms present -No longer contagious -This phase can last up to 20 years |

-Bacteria enters and damages multiple areas of the body
-Results in: -blindness -CNS disease- encephalitis -Heart disease -Death |

-PCN
-If allergic to PCN- EES -People with suspicious rash should be tested for syphilis-VDRL (venereal disease research lab) -If under TX for another VD, should be tested for syphilis |

Teaching STDS

-All partners should be treated once diagnosed
-Avoid sexual contact while under treatment -Condoms are always recommended -Finish entire course of antibiotics -Follow up with physician -Abstinence is the only effective way to prevent STD’S |
