Perform the task according to protocol. Mentally review the steps of the task beforehand.

Check the order, collect the equipment and supplies, and wash your hands. Verify the procedures and check P&P.

Identify and prepare the patient. Greet the patient, introduce yourself, and check the patient's ID band. Explain so they understand what your going to do.

Provide privacy and institute safety precautions; arrange the supplies and equipment. Close door or curtains and drape patient.

Use standard precaustions and aseptic technique as appropriate. Protect yourself from blood and body flids by wearing gloves.
