Deck ID: SSC-S004b
v0.1
---Total 15 questions
Staging for tackoff.  Pushing aircraft onto active runway radio call
- Front Royal Traffic, glider "Tail #" repositioning Rwy 28/10 for glider operations, Front Royal
- Front Royal, glider "Tail #" taking the active, staging for tack-off, 28/10.  Front Royal
Pre-flight check list "Communications" radio check
When performing the pre-takeoff checklist the pilot should initiate a communications check with the tow aircraft (or other available authority).
Pawnee 866 (or 866), glider "Tail #", radio check.
Husky 85S (or 85S), glider "Tail #", radio check.

During this call, if not coordinated in advance, this is the appropriate time to discuss with the tow pilot the profile of the tow (altitude and drop off location) given in AGL / MSL. Typical request at FRR are:
Acft #, we would like a simulated rope break at 200 AGL
Acft #, we would like a pattern tow to 2200
Acft #, we would like a tow to 3700 and dropped off in the vicinity of (location or direction from the airfield)
Departure radio call
NOTE: Call typically made by tow plane pilot, not glider pilot. Call appropriate for self-launched glider

Front Royal Traffic, glider "Tail #" departing Rwy 28/10, Front Royal
Entering traffic pattern, "Entry Leg", radio call
Front Royal Traffice, glider "Tail #" entering downwind for landing Rwy 28/10, Front Royal
Downwind radio call
Front Royal Traffic, glider "Tail #" right downwind for landing Rwy 28/10, Front Royal
Base radio call
Front Royal Traffic, glider "Tail #" turning base for 28/10, Front Royal
Final radio call
Front Royal Traffic, glider "Tail #" turning final for 28/10, Front Royal
Downwind landing radio call
A downwind landing is typically in response to a rope break, tow pilot initiated early release or poor planning on the part of the pilot.  In any case it represents a urgent or emergency situation.  Care should be taken to make your location and intentions clear (left/right pattern) to other aircraft operating in the vicinity of the airport.

- Front Royal Traffic, glider "tail #" is "state location" turning extended final for landing downwind Rwy 10/28
- Front Royal Traffic, glider "tail #" is "state location" turning LEFT base to final for landing downwind Rwy 10/28

"State Location" should be a brief and general location/alt call:
- ...is just south of the airport at 250'
- ...is south west of the airport at 500'
