Today I would like to talk to you about co-ed schools. I think that co-ed schools are better than same sex schools. In this speech I will tell you why.

Co-ed schools are better that same sex schools because there is more diversity, you need to have experience talking to the opposite sex, and learning in university is co-ed.

First, did you know that 79 per cent of parents said they felt coed schools reflected the true diversity of society. If there is diversity you can do activities (e.g. sports, extracurriculars).

Also the Globe and Mail said that they “opted for University of Toronto Schools – more for its commitment to academic excellence, diversity and equity than the fact that UTS is co-educational”. This is why diversity is important.

Secondly, you need to talk regularly with the opposite sex because if you don’t learn early on how to talk to both sexes than it is harder to know how to interact with them.

If you don’t know how to interact with the opposite gender then it will be very awkward trying to have a relationship later on because you won’t have experience that will be like a second nature to you.

If you don’t experience talking with the opposite sex then you will not be confident talking when you end up having to. This is why you need to grow up talking to the opposite sex.

Thirdly, in university If you don’t experience talking with the opposite sex then you will not be confident talking to the opposite sex. If you do not know how to learn without being distracted by the other gender you might have a hard time trying to concentrate with the other gender in the room at university.

When you are at university you need to be able to cooperate or you might get into trouble. This is why it is important to have experience working and learning with the other gender is important for university.

Someone might argue that it is easier to focus without the distraction of the opposite sex, but if you are not confident working and learning around the opposite sex, then you will not be successful in a work environment.

“For one thing, student diversity suffers at a single sex school. In addition, although it may be easier for students to participate actively and do well academically at a single sex institution, the real world is not single sex.

It may prove difficult for students from single sex schools to adjust to a co-ed work atmosphere after they graduate” says University Language Studies.

Co-ed schools are better than single sex schools because of the reasons I just said. Those reasons were there is more diversity, you need to have experience talking to the opposite sex, and learning in university is co-ed.

I hope that know you will consider having a co-ed education rather than a same sex education.

Thank you
