El Carnaval
Celebrated in Latin America before Lent to celebrate the end of roman persecution agsint christians. It is equivalent to our Mardi Gras with music, masks, and costumes.
Las Fallas
Celebrated in Valencia, Spain from March 15-19 to celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring in honor of carpenters. It is celebrated with fireworks, bonfires, and and wooden parrots.
La Tomatina
Celebrated in Bunol, Spain on the Last Wednesday of August becasue it is a tradtion. It is a huge tomato fight.

Celebrated in Puebla, Mexico on May 5th to celebrate the small Mexican army beating the much larger French army. It is a carnival type atmosphere with parades.

Celebrated in Mexico on September 16th in honor of Mexico's independence from France. It is like Fouth of July and New Year's eve combined becasue they decorate thier flags all over Mexico city but stay up to midnight the night before with music and dancing.
Semana Santa
Celebrated in Latin America starting on Palm Sunday for a week in honor of God saving some survivors from the cholera epidemic. They do this by re-enacting a play of Jesus.
San Fermines
Celebrated in Pampalona, Spain from July 6th-July 14 in honor of a brave bishop (St. Fermin) who was killed for talking about God. THey do this with a running of the bulls.
El Dia de la Raza
Celebrated in Latin American countries on October 12th in honor of Christopher Columbus finding new Latin American countries. THere are parties, bullfights, and dances.
El Dia de los Muertos
Celebrated in Mexico from November 1-2 (one day for kids, one for adults) to honor the deceased and re-unite with thier souls. People make altars with food and feast on sugar skulls while drinking and having parites.
La ceremonia del lazo
Celebrated in Mexico every day during weddings to represent the union of the bride and groom. A rope is wrapped around the couple in a figure eight shape to "tie the knot."
La Noche Buena
Celebrated in Latin America from December 24th to Christmas to celebrate the birth of JEsus Christ. It is like Christmas Eve with food, caroling, and parties.

Celebrated in LAtin America on December 25th in honor of the birth of Jesus. It is like Christmas with church services.
