AMPLITUDE |
Also known as wave height~ determines the volume of a sound. The higher the amplitude of a sound wave, the louder the sound. Amplitude ismeasured in decibels (dB). |
|
WAVELENGTH |
Distance between two wave peaks~ determines a sound’s pitch, or how low or high it sounds. A sound wave with a shorterwavelength creates a higher-pitched sound than a sound wave with a longer wavelength. Wavelength is measured in meters (m). |
|
FREQUENCY |
A measurement of how often a wave repeats in a certain amount of time. Frequency depends on the wavelength ofthe sound wave and its speed. Frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz). A wave with a frequency of 1 Hz repeats one full cycle per second. |
