Which 4 components make sociology as a science

It is empirical

It is theoretical

It is cumulative

It is objective

Describe components of sociology as a science

Empirical - deals with measurable phenomena based on observation and experiments

Theoretical - theories are developed from data collected

Cumulative- increases knowledge by adding to what is already known

Objective - values, biases and personal attitudes are excluded

Karl Popper and thomas khun

Popper - scientists have to ensure that their theories can be continually falsified to gauge their rigour. While this can be achieved in a closed laboratory with controlled variables it is impossible to do so in the human world

Khun that scientists operate using one specific paradigm. Sociology makes use of no one specific paradigm rather there are multiple theories competing with each other.

Pilkington 2008 states that sociology is pre-paradigm by extension pre-scientific
