|
-Society is a system of interconnected parts that work together in harmony to maintain a state of balance and social equilibrium for the whole.-
-It is a theory that is concerned with structure, function, dysfunctions, and equilibrium.AKA "like an organism"- -Breakdown of Functionalist Perspective-: -Manifest Function-: Functions that are obvious like how the function of American schools is to teach students -Latent Function-: Functions that are harder to recognize. i.e. college is a place for social connections and "mate selection market" -Dysfunctions-: Negative consequences disrupts the system. Something can be functional in one context and not functional in another. |
