Continental environments are dominated by the erosion and deposition associated with streams. These deposits are the ones found within the river itself

Fluvial River channel

Large quantities of sediment are deposited when rivers overflow their banks during flood stage. Then these areas dry out again during non-flood periods.

Fluvial Flood plain

When fast-flowing streams come out of the mountains on to flat terrain, they deposit their sediment load in a distinctive cone- shaped form. These often occur in arid regions due to the presence of flash-flooding, but can be found in humid areas too.
