What is the purpose of the Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) Program?
Improving combat readiness and achieving a substantial reduction in A/C mishaps.
What do NATOPS instructions prescribe?
General flight and operating instructions and procedures applicable to the operation of all naval A/C and related activities.
General A/C prestart precautions?
The wheels of the A/C shall be chocked and parking brake set.
Intake screens shall be installed on jet A/C.
Inspect ground/deck to eliminate the possibility of FOD.
With parking brakes on, the plane shall be tied down.
When engine is started, personnel with adequate fire extinguishing equipment, clear of intakes or propellers.
