What is an ampere?
The number of amps going past a point each second. A unit for electric current.
What is an electric current?
A complete, unbroken path through which electric charges can flow.
What causes charges to move in a circuit?
Voltage
What is electric potential energy?
The type of electrical energy that depends on position.
What is static discharge?
The loss of static electricity as electric charges transfer from one object ot another.
What is the unit for measuring voltage?
(V)
What is a circuit breaker?
A reuseable safety switch that breaks the current when the current gets too high.
What is a fuse?
A device that contains a thin strip of metal that will melt if too much current goes through it.
What is the difference between a parallel circuit and a series circuit?
A parallel curcuit has more than one path for the electric current while a series circuit has only one path for the corrent to flow through.
What is resistance?
The measure of how difficult it is for charges to flow through a material.
What factors affect resistance?
How long, short, wide, or narrow the material is.
If oyu remove a bulb in a series circuit, will the rest go out? Why?
The rest of the lights will go out because there is a break in the current.
If you remove a bulb in a parallel circuit, will hte other bulbs go out? Why?
They will not go out becuase there i s more than one path ofr the current ot take
What is induction?
Induction is the transfer of electric energy when tow objects touch in their electric fields. The objects do not actually touch
