Document A Social Hierarchy- Daimyos feudal lords
who often fought each other. Est. 250 in 1600.
The European Lords recived land from king and owed military serivce.
Document A Social Hierarchy- The lords were given land from the king but then they owed things to military service. Both the daimyos and lords fought also fought against each other.
Document A- Samurais were warriors who owed loyalty and military service to daimyos for land or regular payment. With families, made up about 10 percent of Japan"s population. The knights were also warriors who owed loyalty and military service to lord for land ; estimated 12,000 knights in England and Normany France in 12th century century.
Document A- Both Samurais and Knights owed loyalty and military service to important lords. Also the Samurais and the Knights were both warriors.
Document B- The Samurais have to be loyal to their lords. It was hereditary. Service of a fuedal lord was passed on from generation to generation. But in Europe, they had legal document spelling out the obligations of lord and vassal respectively.
Document B- The knights had to show loyalty to their lords. They had to dohw it over a legal document thiugh. But on the other hand, the samurais had to show it face to face. Service in fuedal lords was passed on from father to son.
Document C- In this document, they talk about the training for a samurai adn a knight. The samurai has the rigorous training in childhood. When they went to school, they learned physical training, poetry, and spiritual discipline. They also trained with bamboo. The knights, began at the age of four or five! It started with learning how to ride a pony. By the age of seven or eight, he would be sent to serve as a page to his father's overlord or to a powerful relative. They learned how to fight with wooden sticks (like the samurais). At the age of fourteen, the pages were eligible to become a sqiure. The squires continued with weapon training. After that, there was no age where they'd become a knight.
Document B- In my opinion, they both had to go through long steps on how to become the top person. They both also trained with wood like sticks.
Document D- The samurais armor consisted of small iron scaled tied together, the helmet was made up of 8 to 12 metal plates. Below that was a 5-piece neck guard. They didnt wear anything on their right arm so they could easily thro things or launch. The disadvantage of theis armor was that it got very very heavy when it got wet. The knights armor consisted of chain mail, they had more powerful weapons. But their armor changed, it was now just a metal jumpsuit almost. It was 40 to 60 pounds! It was all metal from head to toe.
Document D- In my own words, both had pretty heavy armor. But the armor that the knights wore was more protective. The samurais had a very heavy suit of armor when it got wet. But the knights had a heavy suit of armor all of the time.
Document E- The samurais had a code called the code of bushido. The code of Bushido was that they had to loyal to their masters. Also that they had to devote themselves into the duty above all. The Code of Chivalry, was They had to make almost an oath notto do any wicked deed. Also not to harm or not be loyal to the king.
Document E- These codes are almost the same. They both talk about how not to be non-loyal to the king and not to harm your master.
Document F- Both the samurais and the knights almost feel the same way about life and death. The knights are more devoted to god than samurais are. The samurais poem just explains that you could die at any moment. The knights talk about how they lay next to sa hill and say one last prayer to god and ask that god forgives them for all of their sins that they have made.
Document F- In both poems, they talk about how you have to devote your life to god and live lif eto fullest.
