Document A- Social Hierarchy
Japan and Europe both had a Social Order. On the hierarchy, the people with more status, power, and wealth are at the top of the pyramind. Usually, the less status, power, and wealth a group has, the lower they rank on the pyramid.
Europe and Japan both developed feudalism because of their weak government. This caused them both to have a pyramid or social order. The people with more power and money were at the top of the pyramid, while the people with less power and money were at the bottom of the pyramid.

Samurai were warriors who owned loyalty and military service to daimyos for land or money. Knights were warriors who owned loyalty and military service to lords for land or money.

Samurai and knights both had a code of how they should be honorable and loyal. Samurai had to be loyal to his master while the knights had to be loyal to their King. To dishonor knighthood was the greatest mistake. If a samurai does wrong against the code, they would get punished.
