Bronchodilator. Agonist (stimulator) of beta-2 receptors. Smooth muscle relaxation, skeletal muscle vasodilation, bronchodilation and stabilization of mast cell membranes, reducing histamine release |

1. Bronchospasm secondary to asthma or COPD. 2. Prominent bronchospasm secondary to airway burns, smoke inhalation or chest infection. 3. Release syndrome following crush injury. |

Salbutamol PHARMACOKINETICS |
Only a small about nebulised is absorbed, most goes in to atmosphere. Absorbed through the lungs and some is swallowed.
Metalised in the liver and excreted in the urine.
No significant effects from liver or kidney impairment on acute administration. |

Salbutamol INTERACTIONS |
Less effective in the presence of a beta-blocker. With the most pronounced effect with a non-selective beta-blocker such as propranolol. |
