• Cleats: small pieces of wood to secure shore • Diagonal Braces: prevents buckling • Gusset Plates: square or triangular pieces of plywood (3/4”) • Header: upper element of shore • Horizontal Strut: load-bearing member between two wall plates • Raker: diagonal strut transfers load to sole plate • Sole Plate: distributes load • Vertical Post: load-bearing member • Wall Plate: applied vertically against a wall • Wedges: pressurizes shores |

• Measure overall height to be shored & deduct header, sole plate • Measure & cut two vertical posts • Position Ellis clamps on 2 vertical posts, top clamp 6” f/top of lower post, bottom clamp 12” f/top clamp, bottom end of upper post min. 6” below bottom clamp • Secure clamps with duplex nails • Nail gusset plates on both sides of header • Pull down on top clamp so it is snug • Position sole plate & shore • Pressurize shore by lifting on Ellis clamp • Tap duplex nail in clamp |

• Top Cleat: 2” lumber nailed to top of wall plate to keep raker f/riding up wall plate • Sole Plate: ground pieces of 4”x4” • U-Channel Sole Plate: for split sole raker • Bottom Cleat: 2” lumber nailed to sole plate to prevent raker f/sliding on sole plate • Raker: main member of shore • Solid Sole Raker: length measured f/insertion point on wall plate to contact point on sole plate • Flying Raker: length measured f/insertion point on wall plate to contact point on U-channel subtracting for wedges • Wedges: for pressurizing • Gusset Plates: 12”x12”x ¾ “ plywood squares connects wall plates to sole plates • Bottom Braces: connects wall plate to raker • Midpoint Braces: prevents buckling • Horizontal Braces: connects raker shores together at top & bottom • “X” & “V” Braces: used at each end of raker shore |

Solid Plate Raker Shore Assembly

• Measure height f/ground to insertion point
• Measure & cut wall plate allowing for cleat length & sole plate thickness • Measure & cut raker shore using “factor method” • Gather components for pre-assembly • Align wall plate, raker & sole plate on ground • Attach cleats to wall plate & sole plate • Attach gusset plates to raker, wall plate & sole plate connections • Position raker assembly against wall & anchor sole plate to ground • Place wedges between raker end and cleat on sole plate • Pressurize raker shore • Measure, cut, attach midpoint braces & complete nailing patterns • Measure & attach horizontal brace • Measure & attach “X” or “V” braces • Attach wall plates to walls (if possible)/Flying Raker Shore Assembly, • Measure height f/ground to insertion point • Measure & cut wall plate allowing for cleat length • Measure & cut sole plate allowing for cleats, wedges & anchor • Measure & cut bottom braces • Gather components for pre-assembly • Align wall plate, raker & bottom braces • Attach cleats to wall plate • Attach raker to wall plate • Attach gusset plates to raker & wall plate • Attach bottom braces • Attach cleat to wall plates • Place raker shore & anchor • Pressurize raker shore • Measure & attach horizontal brace • Measure & attach “X” or “V” braces • Attach wall plates to walls (if possible)/Cutting 45° Raker, • Place 4”x4” into 3 ½ “ slot • Make mark 3 ½ “ back f/end to upper corner • Cut at 45° w/chain saw • Place tape measure on raker tip mark 1 ½” on outside of 90° cut • Cut this line • Measure length & repeat cut for other end/Cutting 60° Raker, • Place 4”x4” into 3 ½ “ slot • Use speed square to position 60°, mark line & cut • Measure length & repeat cut for other end but using 30° |
