Where do cancers in prostate develop?
|
75% in peripheral zone, 15% in central, 10% in transitional.

Hormonal therapy
|
Used for metastatic disease
Relieves pain and reduces PSA level. Effects can last for up to a year but then you need to try another option. Surgical castration and chemical castration (using hormonal therapy) are equivalent. |

Chemotherapy summary
|
Can relieve pain and reduce PSA
Prolongs survival, but is not curative. There is no role for bone marrow transplant!!! THIS IS THE LAST LINE OF THERAPY |
