What is a stakeholder?

Anyone involved or wishing to be involved with client's services. Ex. Therapists, doctors, family members, etc.

What is a functional assessment , or functional behavior assessment (FBA)?

A category of procedures used to formally assess the possible environment causes of problem behavior. Procedures can include: informant assessments, direct observation in the natural environment, and functional analysis.

(Develop a hypothesis about the "reasons" for a child's problem behavior)

What are Multiple Relationships?

A relationship where the behavior analyst is in both a behavior-analytic role and a non-behavior-analytic role simultaneously with a client, supervisee, or someone closely associated with or related to the client.

Ex. Being both RBT and babysitter, or dating the parent of a client

What are behavioral excesses?

Any behavior we need to reduce. Not necessarily a harmful behavior.

How often will an RBT be evaluated?

Every 90 days or twice per year.

What is an RBT responsible for?

1) collect accurate data

2) implement the behavior plan

What is Evidence-Based Practice?

1) practitioner is relying on the best available research and clinical expertise while taking into account the client's characteristics.

**2) effectiveness of treatment must have been shown in at least two independent research setting with sample size of 9 or more for single-subject designs.

3) the studies must have used a treatment manual, reliable and valid outcome measures, and appropriate data analysis

What is people first language?

Putting the person before the disability.

Ex. Not an autistic child, a child with autism. Not a cancer patient, a patient with cancer.

They're not defined by their disability. All people have the right to a dignified life.

What is a VBMAPP?

A type of skills assessment to determine a child's strengths and the supports they require

What percent of your time will you receive BCBA supervision?

A minimum of 5% of the time per month you spend providing behavior analytic services

Two face to face and real-time supervision sessions per month

One of two monthly sessions can occur in a small group

What will your BCBA check for in an observation session?

1) data review and data reliability checks

2) treatment integrity checks to ensure prescribed procedures are implemented as specified

3) audit of program implementation

(Accurate data, carrying out behavior plan)

What feedback will you get from your BCBA?

GoT TACOS

Goal reinforced (completing a preference assessment, completed billing)

Tangible and transparent (meeting notes)

Timely (follow up occurs in a timely manner via email correspondence)

Actionable (not ambiguous)

Consistent (an agenda)

Ongoing (uninterrupted)

Specific (your career is being guided based on your needs and interests)

What are the three parts of cultural awareness?

Ethnicity

Religion

Personal preferences

What is it called when your BCBA checks the accuracy of your data?

Inter-Observer agreement

When your BCBA checks on how accurately you implement your clinical and educational procedures.

Who does an RBT receive feedback from?

BCBA supervisor, client, family, school administrators.

What is normalization?

Making available to all people with disabilities the patterns of life and conditions of everyday living which are as close as possible to regular circumstances and way of life of our society.

Setting

Other people

Sounds or motion

Demands imposed

Biological context (change

in meds, divorce)

What is the Functional Behavior Assessment Process?

1- indirect assessment (interviews, reviewing records, surveys)

2- direct assessment (observing the behavior with ABC data, scatterplot, anecdotal notes)

*1&2 are initial when unsure of target behaviors, no manipulation of environment

3- functional analysis (not always necessary, reinforcing behavior to see what makes it increase)

What is an ABC assessment?

Recording behaviors, antecedents, and consequences

What is a scatterplot?

Shows correlations between behavior and time of day, activity, people and locations.

What are the steps of the scientific process?
