Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

Encourages the study and elevates the standards of Radiologic Technology. Examines and certifies eligible candidates. Periodically publishes a list of registrants. Established in 1922.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Facilitates communication among RTs worldwide. Advance science and practice of Radiologic Technology. Help meet needs of RTs in developing countries. Founded in 1959

International Society of Radiographers and Radiologic Technologists (ISRRT)

Established for radiologists. Conducts certification. Formed in 1934.

American Board of Radiology (ABR)

Most prominent national professional voice for RTs. Represents every employee in the Radiologic Technology field, including administration. Goals are to advance patient care, further welfare of RTs, and maintain high standards of education. More than 140,000 members. Formed in 1920.

American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT)

The principal organization of physicians trained in radiology. Wants to advance science of Radiology and encourage continued education.

American College of Radiology (ACR)

The largest and most active medical organization in the world. More than 300,000 physicians (70% practicing). Promotion and regulation of all aspects of medicine. Publishes JAMA. Founded in 1847.

American Medical Association (AMA)

Conducts the world's largest radiology meeting. Provides research grants to members. Produces the journal "Radiology". Formed in 1915.

Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA)

Formerly called SCAR (society for computer applications in radiology), this society serves to streamline standardization of Radiologic Technology. Resource for those interested in the current and future technology aspects. Formed in 1980.
