Proportion

The principle of art concerned with the size relationship of one part to another.

Principle of art that makes one part of a work dominant over the other parts. The element noticed first is called dominant; the elements noticed later are called subordinate.

Harmony
|
The principle of art that creates unity by stressing similarites of seperated but related parts.

Focal point
|
The first part of a work to attract the attention of the viewer. Focal points are created by contrast,location,isolations convergence, and the use of the unusual.

The quality of wholeness or oneness that is achieved through the effective use of the elements and principles.

Repetition
|
Technique for creating rhythm and unity in which a motif or single element appears again and again.

Negative Space
|
Empty space surrounding shapes and forms. The shape and size of negative spaces affect the interpretation of postive spaces. Negative Spaces are also called ground.
