What are the eligibility requirements for a private pilot certificate? (61.103)

1. Can’t act as pilot in command of aircraft that is carrying passengers or property for compensation or hire; or for compensation and hire in general.

6. May demonstrate an aircraft to a prospective buyer, provided the pilot has at least 200 hours of logged time.

- Being “current” means that the pilot has accomplished the minimum FAA regulatory requirements within a specific time period.


- It means that you are “legal” to make the flight, not necessarily proficient or competent.

- Being proficient is not just about be “legal” in terms of the regulations but is about being smart and safe in terms of pilot experience and proficiency.
