The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union
the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union were the first government and constitution of the United States. It was a league of states that are sovereign but are in a union. The significances of the articles of confederation are that it was basis for creating a new constitution with a strong central government with checks and balances.
The Great Compromise
Was a debate on state population affected how many representatives a state receives. Smaller states felt there should be equal representation. This was the big debate against the constitution.
Three – Fifths Compromise
Three-Fifths Compromise was a motion that took the overpopulation of slaves in the south and made them 3/5ths of the population. This important because it directed how many representatives a state gets.
Bicameralism
is an institution that has two legislative branches. This makes both institutions powerful.
Expressed Power
Powers given by the constitution
Necessary and proper clause
This clause created controversy because the anti-federalists thought it would give the government too much power.
Judicial Review
Reviews the actions and makes sure its consistent with the constitution

establishes the constitution, treaties and federal statues as the law

Federalism
a strong central government, with regional governments such as state level and national level
Bill of Rights
It set limits of what the government can and cannot do in regards to personal freedoms. It clinched the deal between the federalist and the anti-federalists

not too much power on each part of the governmental branch each has just enough power.
Tyranny
The colonists suffered under the English king and felt oppressed.
