-The most widely used hard pipe for water supply in residential and commercial application.


-Must be soldered together, ussing soldering flux.

TYPE M (RED)

Used for interior plumbing as well as for fire protection

TYPE L (BLUE)

Has the thickest wall of all the common types, best for main water lines, underground isntallation.

TYPE K (GREEN)

-Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride, plastic is similar to PVC pipe and has similar useds.


-Can handle hot water.

CPVC PIPE

Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride, resistant to chemicals and elements of nature. (cold water only)

UPVC PIPE

Galvanized steel piping was originally introduced as an alternative to lead pipe. Now is common in gas piping.

G.S. PIPE

Is not frequently used today in residential plumbing, typically used for commercial or civic piping and water distribution, as well as sewer and drain lines.

CAST IRON PIPE

-High-density polyethylene, or HDPE, is mostly used on underground and may be required for certain types of piping code.


-Cannot be placed in a direct sunlight.

HDPE PIPE

Polybutylene is no longer used now, only used for water pipe supply.

PB PIPE

Black iron, used for water supply piping but now mainly used for gas or propsne lines and fire sprinklers.

B.I. PIPE

Usually used for water supply. (color white)
