ID
- identify dead engine and close its throttle
SHOOT
throttle 1/4"

magnetos- on
fuel selectors- on
carb heat- on/check/off
fuel qty/pressure- check
oil temp/pressure- check

KILL
prop- feather
mixture- cutoff

throttle- slowly increase to 15" MAP
maintain 15" until CHT green

prop control- decrease (but don't feather)
airspeed- reduce
throttle- below 2700 and as required
engine shutdown- if necessary
In-flight engine failure on approach
FORWARD:
- mixtures, props, throttles
CLEAN:
- evaluate gear and flap position
ID AND KILL:
- id dead engine
- kill mix, prop and throttle for dead engine
"Gear down-stabilized" call @ 400 AGL
Manual gear extension
nav lights- off
circuit breakers- checked
master switch- check on
ammeters- check
airspeed- below 100 KIAS
gear selector- down position
emergency extension knob- pull
indicator lights- look for 3 green
leave emergency knob out
Spin recovery
throttles- closed
rudder- full opposite of spin direction
controls- release back pressure
controls- full forward
ailerons- neutral
rudder (when rotation stops)- neutral
smoothly recover from dive
Alternator light illuminated
ammeters- check
*if zero output both alternators
reduce electrical load
both alternators- off
circuit breakers- check
each alternator- on 1 at a time
other alternator- on
monitor electrical load
Engine overheat
cowl flaps- open
mixture- enrichen
power- reduce
airspeed- increase
