* a single wire can be looped into a coil, concentrating the magnetic field

The strength of the magnetic field near the wire depends on two factors
1. the strength is directly proportional to the current-doubling the strength of the current, doubles the strength of the field.
2. field strength is inversely proportional to the distance from the wire. The field gets stronger as you move closer tot he wire.
