The goal of treatment is to improve the patient's ability to carry out activities of daily living. It does not cure Parkinson's disease or delay its progression.
Levodopa/Carbidopa
Reduce tremor, rigidity, but not bradykinesia. They are less effective than levodopa or dopamine agonist, but better tolerated.
Benztropine
Oral is used to treat partial seizures and tonic-clonic seizures. IV is used to treat convulsive SE.
Phenytoin
It is used to treat partial seizures (simple and complex) and tonic-clonic seizures; it can also be used to treat bipolar disorder, trigeminal, and glossophyargneal neuralgias.
Carbamazepine
Relief of signs and symptoms of spasticity
Baclofen
Relief of signs and symptoms of spasticity and also for the treatment of malignant hyperthermia.
Dantrolene
Relief of prevention of moderate to severe pain while causing minimal side effects.
Morphine
Relief of moderate to severe pain.
Pentazocine
Reversal of opioid overdose, reversal of postoperative opioid effects, reversal of neonatal respiratory depression
