Fund that is created at stations and the Training Academy to buy snacks, condiments, cable TV, newspapers, coffee, etc. All firefighters contribute on payday and is typically about $10 per pay period.

Ladder Company

Piece of fire apparatus that has a large aerial ladder or platform (usually 100 ft.) and carries additional ground ladders and tools. Primary function at a fire is to support the fire attack by forcing entry, ventilating the structure, providing lighting, securing the utilities, providing salvage and overhaul, and many other funcdtions. Ladder companies are responsible for extrications.

The task of connecting a fire hose to a hydrant as the engine is driven closer to the fire. This connects the engine to the hydrant for an uninterrupted water supply to supplement the 500 Gallons carried by PFD apparatus.

Ride Along

Allows civilians to familiarize themselves with duties of the FD. Go to station, sign a waiver, and ride with the fire company as they respond to incidents.

Primarily used to train new recruits. Also hosts companies for drills, classes and other training. Houses the driver training program to train new and prospective drives as well as remedial training for those involved in accidents.

South Operations Chief

Manages over 400 vehicles and their equipment - including engines, ladders, rescues, ladder tenders, squads, command vehicles, support vehicles, staff vehicles and specialized apparatus. Provides for the purchase, outfitting, servicing, repair and fuel for every piece of apparatus.
