anorexia

(-orexia = appetite) loss of appetite, emotional problems (anger, anxiety, fear of weight gain)

ascites

abnormal accumulation of fluid in the abdomen. Fluid passes from the bloodstream and collects in the peritoneal cavity.




-inflammatory, hypertension, or heart failure.
treatment- diuretic drugs/paracentesis removal of abdominal fluid

borborygmi

rumbling or gurgling noises produced by the movement of gas, fluid, r both in the gastrointestinal tract




-hyperactive intestinal peristalsis, bowl sounds (borborygmi) gastroenteritis and diarrhea

constipation

difficulty in passing stool (feces)




-peristalsis is slow, stool are dry and hard.
treatment- diet with fruits, vegetables, and water

-suggest acute infection of the GI, may lead to dehydration

dysphagia

difficulty in swallowing; "lump in throat" because of physical obstruction or motor disorder which esophageal peristalsis is not coordinated (motor dysphagia)
