Limitation (trivial)

Task was trivial and judging line length is not important to pps belief system therefore it lacked ecological validity and may not generalise to real life situations

Strength (crutchfield)

College students showed conformity by agreeing with statements which, in order circumstances, they would not have agreed with. Thse included "the life expectancy of American males in 25 years old"

More ecologically valid, similar results therefore aschs study does have ecological validity

Limitation (populatipn)

All Male sample (androcentric) and therefore may not generalise to women. Some research shows women to conform more. Later research = women only comformed more if study was male orientated. all American = ethnocentric. Individualistic society therefore cannot generalise to collectivist societies. CS = higher levels of conformity

Limitations (ethical)

Deceived. Fake pps and not about line length. Not protected from psychological harm = feeling stress and embarrassment (had to do this to reduce demand characteristics)
