Where can the deluge systems for the OGC be manually tripped from?

Locally

P3 Electrical building

CCR push button

Where can the fire protection systems for the GTs be tripped from?

control cabinet

Buttons at gsu

DCS

What does zone 1 of the fire protection system consist of?

Turbine compartment and gas fuel compartment

What does zone 2 of the fire protection system consist of?

#2 bearing tunnel

What does zone 3 fire protection system consist of?

Lube/hydraulic oil compartment

How would you respond to an indication of a fire on the GT?

Ensure the unit is actually on fire, locate the zone, initiate the CO2 system from the DCS or GSU, contact ES&S

What would you do in the event of a CO2 tank high pressure alarm?

Check the pressure, if it is above 310 the compressor will have to be reset. There is a white reset button on the compressors.

There are two types of discharge for the CO2 to each compartment. Name each and what each does and how long does each zone last?

Initial discharge - rapid discharge of CO2 for one minute to quickly achieve extinguishing concentration (lasts 1 minute).

Extended discharge - allows a smaller and slower discharge rate to maintain extinguishing concentration over a longer period. Zone 1 - 40 minutes, zone 2 - 60 minutes, zone 3 - 40 minutes

How would you know that CO2 was discharged?

Strobes and horns are strategically located within the appropriate compartments.

Explain the function of the fire protection dampers?

Normally held open by CO2 operated latches and automatically got closed when CO2 discharges.

The fire detector set points in each zone are as follows?

Zone 1 - 600° F

Zone 2 - 725° F

Zone 3 - 325° F

What actions will take place upon initiation of a CO2 system?

Turbine trip

Vent dampers will close

CO2 system will activate

Turning gear will trip

Lift oil and hydraulic oil will trip

What is the normal pressure of the P3 Fire protection CO2 tanks?

300 psi

What is the order point of the CO2?

Low level on log sheet is is 70% order point is 60%
