Functions of uterus
regulate menstruation, conception, pregnancy, stores yin- pregnancy, yang of discharges and filling - menses

the Bao luo, the kidney blood is menstrual blood
Heart connects to uterus by
the Bao Mai- women are more in touch with their emotions because of this connection to the shen,
compare the bao mai and the corpus colusm

amenorrhea is heart blood deficiency heat in the blood can cause heavy bleeding, heart blood stagnation can cause pain in the period |

spleen involved in period
makes blood, source of qi and blood, supplement blood of kidney

Intelligence in Brain
The brain is the palace of the original Shen
Point: GB 39 influential point of marrow |
Marrow
1. produced by kidney jing
2. in Tcm marrow= brain, spinal cord, bone marrow 3. contributes to making of blood |
*test*
What is the differece between western and TCM thoughts on bone marrow? |
Western= bone marrow makes blood
TCM= spleen makes blood and bone marrow contribute |
Bones
structural framework of body
controlled by kidney (Jing) growth |
blood vessels
contain blood, ht and lung influence the blood vessel
Heart, spleen and lungs with the blood vessels
Heart dialates and constricts the blood vessels
spleen holds in the blood vessels, heart moves the blood, lungs move qi, oxygen, and blood |
Gall Bladder
stores bile/ digestion/ forceful/ agressive, decisive lets move on a decision hurry up

The six stages of disease are related to
cold disorders only
the six stages of disease were first developed
by dr. Zhang Zhone Jing in the Shang Han Lun, Circa 220 AD
the shao yang stage is
regarded as mid stage between interior and exterior and is sometimes interpreted in the order of succeeding the yang ming stage
When the body's defensive (wei qi) and nutritive qi (ying ) energies are weak
due to external or internal disharmonies a yang disease may develop
In the Yang stage of disease
the bodies energies are always greater than that of the pathogen, so herbs and points will be used to direct the body's energy to expel the pathogen
the body reacts to invasion of cold in the yang stage by
constriction and contraction, the body's pores close and produce less perspiration, blood circulation is constricted producing chills, affecting elimination processes and bringing about tension
The syndromes for each stage and sub-category are
the reflection of the pathological changes of the Zang Fu and channels and collaterals (Jingluo)
Because the six stage theory only focuses on cold pathogens
later practitioners developed further theories for heat diseases
understand the chart on the handout
protocol is outlined in chart
