Lord Baltimore

-Society in the South which consisted of completely self-sucffiant plantations.
-They would use the money acquired from the sale of tobacco to buy goods from England and the North. |

-Taken from the British model, was established in the South to create unity for the large plantations.
-System worked well in England but due to the large size of the plantations during this period. |

Indentured Servitude

-Came from Apprenticeship- worked for farmers for 5 years in exchange for passage to the colonies. Indentured Servants would live with the family that paid for their voyage.
-Unlike Apprentices' Servants would not be taught a trade, but would receive freedom dues. -Both Men and Woman |

Apprenticeship

-would work with a tradesman (blacksmith etc.) for around 5 years to learn their trade.
-Would live with the family of the person that he worked for. |

Freedom Dues
|
-Given as payment to Indentured Servants when they finished working for their 'master'.
-Would usually be clothing, or farming equipment, or sometimes money. |
