Risk profiling and how to understand it |
Risk profiling is • Understanding the nature and level of the risks faced by the organisation • the likelihood of adverse effects occurring and the level of disruption • the costs associated with each type of risk • the effectivemess of the controls in place to manage those risks |
|
What does so far as is reasonably practicable mean |
Means balancing the level of the risk against the measures needed to control the real risk in terms of money, time or trouble. However, you do not need to take action if it would be grossly disproportionate to the level of the risk. |
|
The term suitable and sufficient means |
• a proper check was made • you asked who might be affected • you dealt with all the obvious significant risks, taking in to account the number of people who might be affected • the precautions are reasonable and the remaining risks are low • you involved your workers or their representative s in the process |
