What is the procedure for Buddy Aid for Nerve agent poisioning?
Buddy Aid is when you encounter someone with severe signs of nerve agent poisoning. You should mask the casualty, if necessary. Do not fasten the hood. Administer, in rapid succession, the three sets of MARK I of the downed person
How do you administer self aid during a nerve agent attack?
Self-aid is when you should immediately:
1.Hold your breath (do not inhale) and don your protective mask.
2. Then administer one set of MARK I injections into your lateral thigh muscle (or buttocks).
3. Wait 10-15 minutes after giving yourself the first set of injections since it takes that long for the antidote to take effect.
NOTE: If you are able to ambulate, know who you are, and where you are, you WILL NOT need a second set of Mark I injections.
WARNING: Giving yourself a second set of injections may create a nerve agent antidote overdoes, which could result in incapacitation.
If symptoms of nerve agent poising are not relieved after administering one set of MARK I injections, seek someone else to check your symptoms. A buddy must administer the second and third sets of injections, if needed.
