NATOPS Program Manager

Assigned by the NATOPS Model Manager to perform administrative responsibilities for a minimum of 18 months.


Program manager for NATOPS flight manual (NFM) shall be an aviator highly qualified in that model.


For general series manuals, must be knowledgeable and experienced in the subject areas.

NATOPS Evaluator

Highly qualified air crewmember assigned to the evaluation unit and designated by the model manager.

NATOPS Instructor

Highly qualified crewmember who administers NATOPS evaluation program within a squadron or unit.

NATOPS Evaluations

Open book exam, closed book exam, oral exam, and evaluation flight (aircraft or simulator)

Engine start, operate, and shutdown procedures.

1. Wheels chocked and parking brake set.


2. Intake screens installed on jets.


3. Intakes and surrounding area inspected to eliminate FOD.


4. Engine started by non-pilot for testing and warm-up, parking brakes will be set (transport and patrol class), and shall be tied down.


5. Engine started. Personnel w/ firefighting gear are stationed in the safe vicinity.
