Animation
simulation of movement created by rapidly displaying images or frames.
Frame by Frame Animation
the rapid display of a sequence of still images (2D or 3D) or models in order to create the optical illusion of movement.

many plugins can also operate as standalone programs meaning they will open and work without the browser software being open.
