Fugue
a contrapuntal composition in two or more voices built on a subject that is stated in all voices and repeated throughout the composition
Exposition
The most fully structured part of the fugue. It introduces the primary melodic materials of the fugue. Each voice makes their entrance one at a time.
Subject
basis of the entire fugue. Its a short melody at the beginning of the fugue
Answer
subject completed. its imitated in another voice usually at the P5 above or the P4 below.
Exact imitation = real answer
Slightly modified imitation = tonal answer
Counter-Subject
the continuation of the counterpoint in the voice that began with the subject
